Default need graven monolith farming build

hi

in the elemental sword farming build, none saw one dropping
but some ppl seid:

"my friend got one from a graven monolith whit hench!"

so im trying to find a graven monolith farming build

facts about monoliths:

chause -11 degen(bleeding+canure+cripeling aungish)
chase constant blinding(EDA)
there only ench removal is an atack and needs a hex to function(rending sweep)
they black out ur elite for like 30 secons (signet of humelty)

i certaily have:
elementalist
ritualist
assasin(almost there)
paragon(in vabbi but survivor..)

annyone got ideas?

I would say an e/d or mo/d would work spendidly, but I don't think you realize how good rending sweep is.

mo/d doesnt work, i tried it with the monolith quest in the remainings, sure ur monk doesnt die, but the monoliths wont too, because of their ability to shift into a paragon they are healing to fast.

Gonna go ahead and double post, but e/d works great.

here's my bar: kinetic armor/armor of earth/stoneflesh aura/sliver armor/stone daggers/ether renewal/mystic regeneration/earth attunement.

Kinda slow, but they give you windows of opportunity to get ether renewal up. I tested this at the graven monolith temple where like, 15 of them show up, and after clearing 3 at a time, I eventually tanked most of the room.

attributes were 15 earth/12 e storage/8 earth prayers.

yep

my guess will be a/x whit shadow form and a quick combo, and then tele out(unspecticous>wild>dead blossom pwns them)

i guess ele just doest work, since your elite is blacked out, same fate goes for rit, and paragons cant stay alive either

btw, that are is not accesable via wurm and its near a res schine(nuke and die...=] )

but i gotta go to school now

I actually always have time to get ether renewal up.

there's a small window of time before they humility it, so you have to hit it then. Rending sweep actually hasn't been that problematic, since they shift into the dervish form last, and by that time they've probably exploded from sliver armor.

however, I'm almost 100% sure they don't drop from monoliths, and is just one of those filthy rumours flying around.

My 2 cents: I killed around 6000 graven monoliths on hardmode (a show of force quest), golds did drop a lot, mostly ancient daggers/scythes, tons of bows, tons of aureate aegis, few rare skins like desolation maul etc, not a single elemental sword.

So before you go on trying to farm them, rethink it twice...

Anyway, is there any chance you could tell us where your friend found it ? Maybe he got it in the realm of torment ?

To me it looks like elemental swords can be dropped by almost anything starting with shambling mesas up to graven monoliths and djinns. It's just such a rare drop that i would not consider farming it. A matter of luck you might say, that's why you should spend time on other types of farming, and just buy one. Seems the most logical solution. That is if you want to have one. If you just need money, there are tons of other things you might do, with more success.

Me I'm gonna do chest runs in poisoned outcrops for a while, then I'll go back to DoA farming... (meh i only want a nice caster sword =P)

Well I hate to repeat myself, but I killed around 6000 (+/- 300) graven monoliths on hardmode - no luck either... You can't just say monoliths farming is a way to get an elem sword because someone got one from them, just as you can't say you will get one from chest farming because someone got it from a chest. I think ANet made at least this one NOT farmable, which i appreciate (remember dead swords ? =P or take a look at the colossal scimitars) It's like farming aatxes for rubies, the chance to get one is terribly low. I like it, even if I don't have one yet. I will do chestrunning anyway, worth a try (200 chests at most).

PS: Don't let yourself be fooled by the crap on wiki. Wiki is made by people like you and me, only devs know for sure where to get an elemental sword.

PPS: it takes one at least 7-8 minutes (if you're good) just to GET to the monolith temple (+ the time you need to kill them, heavily depending on your build/tactics), with a little math you might realise, it's not worth it at all....

EDIT: I meant DoA titan gem farming, I never claimed that e-swords drop there =) And I will do CR in poisoned outcrops...

I'm going to assume you did this during the LB/Sunspear weekend...therefore I'm pretty sure you did this with full heros/hench. So 1/8th of your drops just went down the toilet. These are rare drops so I would not be surprised if you didn't get one by killing 750 monliths (1/8th of 6000).

Now if you did this with 8/8 real people and killed 6000 of them then I'd be more inclined to believe that Gravens don't drop elemental swords.

1. Nope, I did it during last 1 1/2 weeks
2. Nope, I didn't do it with full hench team (i did most of it with my guildies, and some of it with 4-5 henchmen/heroes to max drops). Either I'm cursed or the sword is totally underpriced...

EDIT: And I'm not saying they don't drop them, tbh I believe that many monsters are theoretically able to drop ele swords, but the drop rate is so miserably low, that it has little sense trying to farm it (better be off doing one of the other xxx types of farming)

farming for these swords has become a big waste of time. 1000's of chests, 1000's of crags and mesas. and now 1000 of these things? think its not worth the time to farm one, but hey, i think i earned enough money to buy one from all those cheap monsters

That's what I've been saying all along, it's not worth the effort

Some Asian fortune cookie read this text:

Not too long ago, there was an experienced adventurer that tried to solo-kill some Assasin boss over and over and over, just for his Unique Daggers. No matter how much the little adventurer killed the boss, the daggers never dropped for him.

'Oh why, oh why' cried the adventurer to his gods, 'Please help me get these daggers!'

The gods never answered his calls, so he decided to give up the farming. A litte later, he decided to farm Strongroot Shelters some more, since they dropped about every 15 mins. After he loaded his bags with Strongroots, he set off to Keineng Center.

In Keineng Center, he sold his Strongroots quickly for hard cash. But he noticed some merchant selling the Unique Daggers, he longed for so much. He asked the merchant to trade them for one of his Strongroots. The merchant happily recieved the Unique Shield and decided to pay an extra 5k for it as well.

The adventurer set off to where the sun goes down, with his new Unique Daggers and a pouch full of platinum.

Theres a lesson to be learned in this story.
